Complications of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura in pregnancy: a review of literature

ABSTRACT INTRODUCTION: Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is an acquired immune disorder that causes a reduction in platelet count, called thrombocytopenia. ITP during pregnancy usually presents some complications may impair the outcome of pregnancy. OBJECTIVE: This literature review aimed to identify main and its consequences. METHODOLOGY: The bibliographic search was performed through scientific articles available Scielo PubMed databases, which 64 were selected, both Portuguese English. RESULTS: risk postpartum hemorrhage, placental abruption, neonatal thrombocytopenia are occur CONCLUSION: Pregnant women must be properly monitored so there no major complications.
